It was bound to happen one of these days - I mean how long can a streak go on for? Stephanie and I have been shooting weddings together now for more than five years. In all that time DNA Photography has never been rained on during one of our wedding ceremonies; well that was at least our bragging rights up until June 11th at Rick and Kristen's Agassiz Village wedding.
The day started with overcast skies as we pulled onto the long winding road of Agassiz Village in Poland, Maine. We were quickly greeted by an adorable little flower girl who truly enjoys her time in front of the camera. Just as the last seat was put in place for the scheduled garden ceremony - it started to drizzle. The families went back and forth on how to remedy their weather issue and at the last minute decided to move the ceremony to the venue's large wrap-around farmer's porch. This made for a long aisle which would eventually helped make for a dramatic entrance for our bride-to-be.
When Kristen arrived she was swept away to do her first reveal with her parents. It was a touching moment that we were happy to be a part of. It is very clear how much this entire family loves one another and to see them all pull together to make the last second ceremony change was truly amazing to witness. While some were moving chairs, others were fastening the trellis to the floor; all while DJ Jerry Bazata rearranged his entire ceremony setup. All of this was done in a limited amount of time and with an incredible amount of teamwork and ease. The family's hard work paid off handsomely with an almost seamlessly perfect wedding ceremony that unfolded as though this Plan B was always the master plan. Kristen looked amazing and everyone there could see that Rick was enchanted by her appearance as she made her way down the aisle.
Once the formalities were done the festivities continued inside the enormous ceremony hall. The wooden décor complimented by the numerous antique lanterns and wagon wheels hung overhead created a rustic, almost great "Montana-esque" lodge ambiance to this late Spring wedding. Rick and Kristen were a blast to work with and despite the rain dared to venture out with us for a handful of formal pictures. Here are a few of our favorite captures of their day!
